Time Magazine & New America
Rank College Football Teams By Academics

Everyone has seen the College Football Playoffs final poll of the season, and probably most of the other college football polls as well. There's more than enough of them to go around, by the way. The top four get the most attention, it seems, since they will be involved in the CFP semifinal games. Of course they are No. 1 Alabama, No. 2 Ohio State, No. 3 Clemson and No. 4 Washington.

Now Time magazine has paired with NewAmerica.org to rank the 25 teams in the CFB ranking according to academics.

New America  used each program's graduation success rate (GSR). The GSR is a NCAA measure that, unlike the federal graduation rate, doesn’t penalize schools for having players who transfer or leave for the pros provided those players depart in good academic standing.

The Southeastern Conference has five teams in the Top 25, with the Alabama Crimson Tide ranking the highest, coming in at number seven. The other six are Auburn (10), Florida (18), LSU (19) and Tennessee (24).

Here are the Top 25 teams according to academics:

25  Navy
24  Tennessee
23  USC
22  Oklahoma State
21  Ohio State
20  Pittsburg
19  LSU
18  Florida
17  Western Michigan
16  Washington
15  Colorado
14  Michigan
13  West Virginia
12  Florida State
11  Louisville
10  Auburn
  9  Wisconsin
  8  Oklahoma
  7  Alabama Crimson Tide
  6  Utah
  5  Virginia Tech
  4  Penn State
  3  Temple
  2  Clemson
  1  Stanford
