Bama Football Continues Prep On Saturday

Bama is busily preparing for the showdown with the Washington Huskies in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia. The game is set for December 31st at 2 p.m. CT live on ESPN. Joe Tessitore, Todd Blackledge and Holly Rowe will be making the call for the network.
Tony Brown wasn't spotted during the media viewing period. He continues to recover from what Alabama head coach Nick Saban called "a muscle pull."
Defensive lineman Dakota Ball was also missing. He was injured in a hunting accident, a finger issue, and the situation is being monitored.
True freshman Shyheim Carter was working in the place of the injured Brown at the star position. If you recall Carter was called upon to fill the gap at the Ole Miss game when Minkah Fitzpatrick was injured and Brown was suspended.
The Crimson Tide's new offensive coordinator, Steve Sarkisian, set to begin duties after the departure of Lane Kiffin to FAU, was seen laughing with Kiffin during practice. Usually Sark isn't around much during practice sessions, but will probably be seen much more often as he interacts even more now with the offensive players.
The Alabama Crimson Tide enters the College Football Playoff Semifinal game undefeated with a 13-0 record while the Washington Huskies post a 12-1 record, with their only loss coming at the hands of the USC Trojans 26-13. The Crimson Tide defeated the Florida Gators, guaranteeing its slot in the playoffs, while the Huskies defeated Colorado to earn its berth.
This will be the fifth meeting between the two schools, with Alabama having won all of the previous four contests. The pair met most recently in the 1986 Sun Bowl with the Crimson Tide posting a 28-6 win.

Come-Back Win For Bama Women's Basketball
Defeats Georgia Tech 67-65

Nail-biter definitely fits.
It was looking bleak for the Alabama women's basketball team yesterday afternoon. The Bama belles had to overcome a 13-point deficit at the end of the first quarter to defeat the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in Coleman Coliseum 67-65. The Crimson Tide improves to 9-1 overall this season while Georgia Tech drops to 9-2 on the year.
Alabama women's basketball head coach Kristy Curry said, "It's just a really good win today against a team that has had some really good wins. I thought our team really handled some adversity early. We started out shooting 1-for-17, and we just kind of stayed the course and made enough plays on both ends. I just thought that it showed a lot of character by our kids, and it's a really good win. I'm happy for them."
Tide junior Hannah Cook led the team in scoring with 19 points, while sophomore Shaquera Wade "showed out" landing the second double-double of her career with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Additionally Wade was responsible for two assists, two steals and two blocks. Meoshonti White added 13 points to the scoreboard for the Crimson Tide. Georgia Tech was led by junior Zaire O'Neil pumping in 17 points, hauling down six rebounds, as well as picking up two blocks and
two steals.Alabama women's basketball head coach Kristy Curry said, "It's just a really good win today against a team that has had some really good wins. Alabama was 23-of-68 (33.8 percent) in shooting for the game as compared to 25-of-63 (39.7 percent) for Georgia Tech. The Crimson Tide also out-rebounded the Yellow Jackets 48-43.
Two games remain for the Tide prior to Christmas break. The first of these will be at the Patrick Harrington Tournament at Northwest Florida's Raider Arena in Niceville, Florida against McNeese State tomorrow at 6 p.m. CT. The second game will be against UTEP on Tuesday, December 20th at 6 p.m. CT.

Bama Men's Basketball Suffers Major Loss
Falls To Clemson 67-54

The shot clock at Legacy Arena wasn't the only thing that was pretty much broken today. The Crimson Tide offense spurted, sputtered, and pretty much was a lot like a car with water in the gas tank after the last fill-up. Alabama shot a season-low 32 percent from the floor falling 67-54 to the Clemson Tigers this afternoon. Besides shooting percentage, the 54 points today was the lowest of the season.
Alabama men's head basketball coach Avery Johnson said, "It's not so much about toughness and grit as it is about
leadership. We're starting to get
some leadership on the floor. And guys that have the potential to lead,
we want them to not be ashamed of their leadership ability."
Avery Johnson, Jr. led the Tide in scoring, pumping in 17 points from off the bench.
One injury to report in the contest. The elder Johnson says that starting guard Corban Collins appears to have "some kind of groin issue" but offered nothing more. Collins was in obvious pains after hitting the hardwood late in the game.
Clemson's Shelton Mitchell led all scorers with 18 points on the day.
