Alabama head basketball coach AVERY JOHNSON already had to replace two graduating seniors, one of which was the Crimson Tide's leading scorer this past season. Then two players who contributed in 30-plus games apiece decided to transfer to other schools. Now Johnson is tasked with replacing an assistant coach.
Bama assistant coach SCOTT POSPICHAL is reportedly leaving the university to return to his home state of Texas. No word yet as to where he is going.
The Tuscaloosa News is reporting that former Arkansas coach and two time-Florida assistant John Pelphrey is one name being tossed about and may even have been in Tuscaloosa yesterday. AL.com says he was, indeed, interviewing for the position.
More information will be forthcoming.

Spring practice number 10 is in the books for the University of Alabama football. The Crimson Tide put in another two hours of practice yesterday afternoon in full pads on the Thomas-Drew Practice Fields.
The second practice of the week was pretty much as the first. Some of the rotations changed up just a bit and a few were absent from practice. Defensive linemen Da'SHAWN HAND and DALVIN TOMLINSON weren't present during the open portion of practice for different reasons. According to Tide head coach NICK SABAN, hand was experiencing back spasms while Thomlinson was sick. He further stated that neither issue was serious.
Some good news, however, in the injury department in that safety EDDIE JACKSON wasn't wearing the black no-contact jersey yesterday and was working with RONNIE HARRIS in the other safety position while working the nickel defense.
According to Saban, the quarterback rep distribution remains relatively the same as when spring practice first began. He did mention, however, that the younger quarterbacks, BLAKE BARNETT and JALEN HURTS, weren't as consistent.
Saban was complimentary of sophomore wide receiver XAVIAN MARKS. He said the 5' 8", 160-pounder has made a tremendous amount of improvement since last season. Saban also mentioned he would envision Marks playing a role on offense and/or as a returner.
Bama will practice once again on Friday before their second scrimmage of the spring season inside Bryant-Denny Stadium. A-Day will be the following Saturday, April 16th.
