The Alabama Crimson Tide football team completed spring practice number 13 yesterday as well as beginning the final week of workouts culminating in the A-Day Game this Saturday. Bama practiced in full pads for approximately two hours yesterday afternoon on the Thomas-Drew Practice Fields in Tuscaloosa.

A big part of yesterday's practice was working out the kinks and mistakes from Alabama's second spring practice of the season this past Saturday. Alabama head coach Nick Saban had commented Saturday afternoon that while the Tide showed improvement in that second scrimmage over the first, there was still a lot of work to do. He also is looking for more determination and concentration from the reserves.

After having to deal with back spasms last week, Alabama defensive lineman Da'Shawn Hand was back in action yesterday. He was dressed in a regular practice jersey and was looking good going through drills.

Injured left tackle Cam Sims was back. He was seen going through drills at yesterday's practice session.

One comment earlier from Alabama head coach Nick Saban may say, somewhat, where things stand in the search for a starting quarterback for the Crimson Tide. Saban commented, "If we had to play today, it would probably be Cooper Bateman." However, Bama's head man didn't stop there, continuing, "But we don’t have to play today." Of course Saban went on to comment that the starter would be the one "who wins the team."

So, more than likely no starting quarterback will be unveiled until the opening contest this fall. Probably expect Bateman to receive a few more reps than the others based on that comment, but don't expect this to be the final word on the matter.

The 2016 Golden Flake A-Day Game is scheduled for this Saturday, April 16 at 2 p.m. CT inside Bryant-Denny Stadium. The game is again open to the public and free of charge. The A-Day Game will be broadcast live on ESPN with Kirk Herstreit, Joe Tessitore and Joey Galloway handing announcing duties.

After leading throughout the contest, the Alabama Crimson Tide baseball team gave up the lead to UAB in the seventh inning last night at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. But then Bama's Chandler Avant stepped up with an RBI-triple in the bottom of the eighth, scoring the go-ahead run and giving Alabama a 7-6 win over the Blazers. The Tide is now 20-13 overall.

Alabama head baseball coach Mitch Gaspard said, "It was good to come back. We got a little help there in the bottom of the eighth, but we put pressure on them and that's what you've got to do to win games."

Matt Foster earned his team-leading fourth win of the year while Thomas Burrows picked up his eighth save of the year.

The Crimson Tide will host the eighth-ranked Old Miss Rebels in a three-game series this weekend. Friday's game is at 7 p.m. CT, Saturday's matchup is at 5 p.m. and the series finale on Sunday is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT. All three games can be seen live on SECN+.
