Team USA Defeats Japan 6-1

As the Four Seasons sang, Oh what a night! Team USA blasted Japan by a score of 6-1 Sunday night in Irvine, California to win its 8th World Cup in softball. Two Crimson Tiders played with Team USA, outfielder Haylie McCleney and former pitcher Jaclyn Traina. Incidentally, this was Traina's third season with Team USA and the second for McCleney.
Mc Cleney played in all seven games while Traina appeared in three.
The championship game was the seventh meeting between Team USA and Japan, with USA leading with a 5-2 mark. Team USA finished the weekend with a 7-1 record, with its only loss being to Canada.
Congratulations to Team USA, as well as Haylie and Traina! Roll Tide and Go Team USA!

Xavian Stapleton Picks Dogs Over Tide
Having departed Louisiana Tech after his freshman season, 6' 6" Xavian Stapleton will transfer and continue his college basketball career with Mississippi State, according to The Clarion-Ledger. Stapleton selected the Dogs over the Crimson Tide.
The Madison, Mississippi native had visited Iowa State earlier, and just this past week came to the Capstone for a visit.
Bama basketball head coach Avery Johnson has said he wants to add a wing man to this season's team.

Randolph Makes NBA Summer League Debut
Despite not being selected in the NBA draft, former Alabama Crimson Tide guard Levi Randolph is making the most of his time and abilities. Randolph helped the Oklahoma City Thunder's Summer League team defeat the Charlotte Hornet's team 76-74 this weekend.
Randolph put in 28 minutes, 45 seconds in the Thunder's win, the second-most minutes played by any member of the Thunder's team. In his NBA Summer League debut, Randolph was one of three in shooting and finished with five points. He was three of four from the free-throw line. Randolph had two assists, three rebounds, one steal, three turnovers, and four fouls.
The Thunder will play again today.
Besides the Oklahoma City Thunder, Randolph also plays for the Utah Jazz Summer League team.
