TUSCALOOSA, Alabama - Preparation continues for the University of Alabama football. Smack talk from the LSU Tigers can only mean an aggressive, hard-hitting game. LSU is feeling confident and the Crimson Tide is still...well, the Crimson Tide! UA football put in two more hours of work on Wednesday afternoon in preparation for this Saturday's top-20 matchup with the Tigers, getting it done for two hours in full pads at the Hank Crisp Indoor Facility on the Alabama campus.
Bama running back Josh Jacobs (ankle) as well as defensive end Da'Shawn Hand (knee) both practiced again on Wednesday. Both players have, in fact, been practicing with the team since Monday.
This one could be tougher than the rest. Bama continues to fine-tune both the offense and defense for this big Southeastern Conference Western Division matchup. The defense must put in place the plan to stop an LSU rushing attack that ranks fifth in the SEC, averaging 216.2 yards a game. The two nationally-ranked teams are set for a primetime contest on the CBS Network at 7 p.m. CT at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Brad Nessler will handle the play-by-play, with his sidekick Gary Danielson handling analysis. Allie LaForce will work the sidelines for the second straight week.
Alabama leads the all-time series 52-25-5 against LSU, including a 12-7 record at home in Bryant-Denny Stadium. The Tide has captured six consecutive victories between the pair, dating back to the 2011 BCS National Championship Game. Alabama's most recent win was a 10-0 victory in Baton Rouge, Louisiana just last season.

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama – The University of Alabama women's basketball
team was clicking on all cylinders on Wednesday night in Coleman Coliseum as the Crimson Tide took down Antelope Valley 108-53 in exhibition play. The Bama belles outscored Valley in the paint 62-14 to highlight an outstanding performance last night.
Alabama women's basketball head coach Kristy Curry said, "There were a lot of positives and anytime you can have seven in
double figures, and score 108 points, it really doesn't matter who
you're playing. I
liked our presence offensively, and also the ability to change our
defenses and show a lot of different looks, especially with those guys
being in a zone. There is a lot to learn from and a lot of positives,
but I don't call it negatives. I just call it improvement areas. Tonight
was good for us."
Seven members of the Tide team finished in double figures last night, including senior Coco Knight (15), sophomore Ashley Knight (13), senior Ashley Williams (12), senior Alana da Silva (12), junior Shaquera Wade (12), senior Quanetria Bolton (11) and senior Hannah Cook (10).
Overall, UA shot 51 percent (40-79) from the floor, while at the same time keeping Antelope Valley to just 30 percent shooting. The Tide bench came on strong last night, pumping in 61 points in the victory.
Offense wasn't the only thing clicking for Bama last night. The defense also stepped up in a huge way and capitalized on the Antelope Valley miscues, forcing 27 turnovers resulting in 25 points for the Tide.
The Alabama Crimson Tide will open its regular season on Friday, November 10th at 7 p.m. CT against Alabama A&M.

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – Alabama Crimson Tide senior soccer midfielder Maddy Anzelc was named to the 2017 Southeastern Conference Community Service Team. The SEC made the announcement on Thursday afternoon. Anzelc will now be among 14 total student-athletes who were named to the list highlighting a student-athlete from each of the 14 schools in the Southeastern Conference who gives back to their community in extraordinary action.
Anzelc has spent countless hours volunteering and helping those in need in the local community during her time at UA. Every year, Anzelc has participated in soccer clinics around Tuscaloosa, spearheaded efforts for Project Angel Tree, and has set up soccer stations and handed out candy at the annual Halloween Extravaganza.
She is also currently the team advocate for Team Impact and is the first student-athlete at Alabama to begin this program that pairs chronically ill children with college sports teams. During the offseason in the spring, she also schedules visits to see those who have fought for our country at the Tuscaloosa Veterans Affairs medical center in Tuscaloosa. When Anzelc is not helping out others in Tuscaloosa, she is extending a helping hand in her home state of Ohio at Zane's Foundation, where she helps to raise money for families with special needs.
Anzelc has participated in 10 games for the Crimson Tide, and made four starts this season at midfield. In the match back on September 17th against Chattanooga, she kicked the game-winning goal, her first goal of the season and the first game-winner of her career, to help Alabama shutout the Mocs 2-0. During her four years with the Tide she has participated in 39 career games and picked up two goals, 18 shots and five shots on goal. Roll Tide, Maddie!

What Saban Said...
About The First College Football Playoff Poll
Photo Credit: UA Athletics/Tide TV |
University of Alabama football head coach Nick Saban has never really been a big fan of college football polls. Whether it's the Associated Press, Amway Coaches Poll or even the CFP rankings, he's never wanted his Crimson Tide to focus on that. Saban believes winning will take care of any poll problems.
Early in the week Saban again called some of the things the media prints or broadcasts "poison." This time he was referring to the polls, and in particular the CFP.
Saban told reporters, "I could care less about the poll. What significance does a poll have right now? All we're talking about right here is the challenge of our season, and where are we going to be in the poll if we don't play well in the next four games?
"So I'm focused on the next four games. I could care less about the poll. You won't see me waste any time watching TV or who is one and who is two. It doesn't really matter. What really matters is how you play the rest of the season."
So, for now, if we take a very short "peek" at the CFP rankings, Alabama is still in charge of it's own destiny as they say. Win out and the Crimson Tide is in the playoffs. Let's start that with LSU this Saturday. Roll Tide!
