The University of Alabama had three players honored this morning by the Southeastern Conference office. Minkah Fitzpatrick, JK Scott and Jalen Hurts have all been selected as SEC Players of the Week. Fitzpatrick was chosen for his defensive performance against Arksans this past Saturday, Scott on special teams and Hurts as co-freshman player of the
week. Alabama defeated the Arkansas Razorbacks 49-30 at Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Fitzpatrick recorded a record-setting performance in Fayetteville this past Saturday. The sophomore defensive back tied the Crimson Tide single-game record for pass interceptions by picking off three passes. Add to that his five tackles as well as breaking
up a pair of passes. One of his three interceptions was returned for a
touchdown, with the pick going for a 100-yard return to register which has now been recorded as the
longest interception return in program history. The pick-six was the
third of his career, and ties the young man for the Alabama all-time mark for career
interception returns for touchdowns.
Scott punted four times for Alabama for 206 yards to average a season-high 51.5
yards per punt. He was able to put two of those four punts inside the Razorbacks'
20-yard line, and averaged 41.5 yards per punt. Scott
collected a season-long 63-yard punt as part of his two kicks of 50-plus
yards.
Bama's sensational true freshman quarterback outdid himself once again, as the young Hurts
accounted for 273 yards of total offense and four touchdowns in the win. Hurts threw for 253 yards and a pair
of touchdowns while completing 76.5 percent of his throws on 13-of-17
passing. This would up being a career-best 228.54 passer efficiency rating, the young man ended up with an average of 14.9 yards per reception. Hurts also rushed eight times
for 20 yards and two scores to bring his season total to five rushing
