After suffering their second loss of the season only a few days ago the Alabama women's basketball team (10-2) came bounding back to defeat Grambling State (2-8) yesterday 72-57.
Alabama fell behind early in the game by as many as 11 points in the first 10 minutes of the game, but Bama was able to narrow that margin to seven with only a minute remaining in the first period.
Crimson Tide head coach Kristy Curry said, "Our first group has to get off to a better start. You have to have some folks on the bench to give me a reason to change my mind. At the end of the day, we were able to make enough plays. Basketball is a game of runs. We were able to more. That counts. They're a team that went at us, and they have played some folks close. She (Nadine Domond) does a really good job. We have to make shots, and we have some folks that really care. In general, we did enough to win."
Bama did manage to wrest control away from State in the second quarter going on a 15-2 run giving them a six-point lead at the half.
It appeared that Grambling State would again catch fire as they took the lead twice within minutes of the start of the third period. Bama bounded back, however, and never trailed again after taking a 40-39 lead.
The Tide was 30-of-64 from the field, connected on nine-of-12 free throws and brought down 45 rebounds. Grambling State was 22-of-58 in shooting, nine-of-11 free throws and had 28 rebounds.
Up next for the Tide is a home game with Lipscomb on Monday, December 28th. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. CT.

Receiver Raheem Falkins was again practicing in a black no-contact jersey but was catching passes. Starting guard Aphonse Taylor seemed to pull up with what appeared to be a minor injury.

The University of Alabama men's basketball team travels tonight, or not according to how you look at it. The Crimson Tide will host the Oregon Ducks at 8 p.m. CT tonight in the Vulcan Classic in Birmingham's Legacy Arena.
The Tide last played in Birmingham back in the 2011 season when the Oklahoma State Cowboys came calling and were sent home on the short end of a 69-52 score.
This game is indeed considered a home game for Bama even though it's being played up the road a piece. The Tide has spent a lot of time away from home so far in this young season. This will be the seventh game away from Coleman Coliseum in 10 outings.
Alabama is 7-2 on the season and is riding a five-game win streak. Bama's last win was last Wednesday 72-60 over Winthrop.
Tonight's game can be seen on ESPNU with Rich Hollenberg handling play-by-play duties and Dino Gaudio color commentary. The matchup will also be available on the Crimson Tide Sports Network with Chris Stewart and Bryan Passink handing the duties for the network.
