It was ever so close. But a win is a win is a win. And a road win at that!

The University of Alabama men's basketball team (6-2) marched into Greenville, South Carolina on Sunday and came away with a 51-50 victory over the Clemson Tigers. This is the Tide's four consecutive road win away from home, something that hasn't happened since the 2001-02 season.

"Our boys were men tonight," commented Alabama head coach Avery Johnson. "Retin (Obasohan) was fantastic and really carried us, especially in the first half. We thought Retin could be most effective for us off the ball, playing not so much point guard, but off the ball. He's really playing with a lot of confidence right now. Shannon (Hale) also played well and came up with a clutch steal and slam to win the game for us. I am just so proud of our team for wining on the road against a very good Clemson team."

Here in the eighth game of the season Bama finished with a season-high 44 rebounds, 21 of which were off the offensive board. Senior Obasohan pumped in a career-high 23 points on the night.

With less that a minute to play it wasn't going the Tide's way, trailing by a single point, 50-49. That was when Hale stepped up big, stole a pass and took it to the basket for the game-winning dunk. Clemson did manage to get a shot off with less than five seconds on the clock, but the Avry Holmes' shot was short of the mark, and the put back was no good as the ball fell out of bounds. With three seconds remaining in the game the Tide had the final possession.

After getting the ball in-bounds, Arthur Edwards was fouled but miss the front-end of a  one-and-one allowing the Tigers to grab the rebound and launch an across-the-court bomb for the win that fell short just as the buzzer sounded.

With the Crimson Tide's leading rebounder, Dazon Ingram, out for the remainder of the season with a broken foot, the team had to pull together to grab 44 rebounds in the contest compared to Clemson's 30. It was only the second time this season that Alabama has won the battle of the boards.
Jimmie Taylor led the team with 9 rebounds last night, followed by Hale with seven, Edwards with six and Justin Coleman and Obasohan with five apiece. Four others brought down the ball from the glass for the Tide.

Obasohan led the Tide in scoring with 23, followed by Hale also scoring in double-digits with 12 points. Donta Hall and Michael Kessens  were next with four points each, Edwards and Coleman had three apiece and Taylor rounded out the scoring for the Tide with two points.

Next up for the Tide is a home game slated for Wednesday against Winthrop at home in Coleman Coliseum. Tip off is scheduled for 8 p.m. CT. The game can be seen on the SEC Network.

The 2015 Southeastern Conference Champion Alabama Crimson Tide football team has placed five players on the All-America Team list as selected by the Associated Press. The announcement came last night that Derrick HenryA'Shawn Robinson and Reggie Ragland were named to the first team, with Ryan Kelly was named to the second team, and Eddie Jackson was chosen for the third team.

Derrick Henry is Alabama's second Heisman Trophy winner since Mark Ingram won it back in 2009. In addition he's been named the recipient of the Doak Walker, Maxwell and Walter Camp Player Of The Year trophies as well. Henry rushed for an SEC record 1,986 yards this season, as well as an FBS-leading 23 touchdowns. This is the third first-team selection for Henry this post-season, as well as having been named to the USA Today and the Walter Camp Football Foundation All-American teams also.

Ragland earned his third first-team selection as well. He has played a major role in the nationally-ranked defense of the Crimson Tide. He led Bama in tackles this season with 90 which included 6.5 for a loss and also six quarterback hurries. He is a finalist for the Bednarik, Butkus and Nagurski awards.

Robinson has been a major cog in what is one of the best, if not the number one, defenses in the nation. He has a career-high 42 tackles in the 2015 season, including 7.5 for a loss as well as three sacks. He also has nine quarterback hurries, two pass breakups, a fumble recovery as one as one blocked point-after-touchdown. He was also named to the second team by Walter Camp and USA Today.

Kelly is the 2015 Rimington Trophy winner and has been named to the second team. He graded out at an 88.4 percent average on the season while missing only eight assignments in 948 snaps, as well as not allowing a quarterback sack all season. He made first team on the Walter Camp and USA Today teams.

Jackson was named to the third team by Associated Press voters, as well as being honored as a second team selection by Walter Camp. He ranked second defensively in defending passes with 81, third in pass breakups with 65 and leads the SEC with five interceptions and 230 return yards, including two pick-sixes. Those 230 yards are an Alabama single-season record as well as giving him second place nationally.

     Congratulations, gentlemen!
