University of Alabama head football coach Nick Saban was named by the Dodd Trophy as its Coach of the Week on Tuesday. The award honors the head football coach whose program embodies three pillars, with those being scholarship, leadership and integrity, while also enjoying success on the playing field during the previous week's game. His University of Alabama football team defeated LSU this past week 30-16.
Saban has been head coach at The University of Alabama since 2008, when the late Mal Moore managed to woo him away from the Miami Dolphins of the NFL. Saban, along with the legendary Paul "Bear" Bryant, are the only two coaches to win Southeastern Conference Championships at two different schools. Saban did it at LSU and Alabama, while the Bear did it at Kentucky and Alabama.
Saban has served as head football coach at Toledo, Michigan State, LSU, and The University of Alabama.

Tide Continues Preparation For Mississippi State

The University of Alabama football team was back out on the practice field yesterday afternoon for another two hour session in full pads. The second-ranked Tide has begun implementation of it's game plan for this Saturday's contest with 17th-ranked Mississippi State.
Alabama looks to continue its dominance of the Bulldogs when they travel to Starkville, Mississippi for the Saturday afternoon contest. Bama holds the lead in the annual feud, 77-18-3. The consecutive win streak for the Tide now stands at seven, with last years victory only a five-point margin 25-20. Mississippi State was ranked number one in that game, and Alabama's victory gave the Tide a nice boost in the rankings. Alabama has won seven contests against number one teams, and four now under head coach Nick Saban.
Alabama running back Kenyan Drake, who was hampered yesterday at practice, was back at it today going through drills. Saban had previously reported that Drake got his "bell rung" Saturday against LSU. It was reported by AL.com that Drake was back at full speed on Tuesday.
Freshman receiver Daylon Charlot was back and going through drills after not dressing out for this past Saturday's contest. No word as to why Darlot was not dressed for the game on Saturday, but appeared fine in Tuesday's practice.
It was also reported by AL.com that NFL scouts from the Jacksonville Jaguars as well as the Pittsburg Steelers were in Tuscaloosa watching workouts.
The No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide travels to Starkville, Mississippi to take on the 17th-ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs this Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast by CBS, the fourth consecutive Alabama game in as many weeks, and the fifth of the season.
