Burks won her third consecutive Southeastern Conference outdoor long jump title at the 2017 SEC Outdoor Track & Field Championships only a week ago. She is only the fourth UA female track & field student-athlete to win three or more conference titles in one individual event.
At the Southeastern Conference Relays on April 29th, Burks anchored Bama's 4x100-meter relay team to a school-record time of 43.17. LOUISVILLE, Kentucky – A pair of Alabama softball student-athletes have been honored by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). Alabama Crimson Tide juniors Alexis Osorio and Demi Turner have been named First Team All-South Region. The NFCA announced its complete list of 2017 All-Region honorees on Thursday.
Awards and honors are not new for the Tide's dynamic duo, with this award being the second career honor for both Osorio and Turner,
previously winning as freshmen in 2015 before being selected as
All-Americans later in that season. In its 21-year history, the Crimson Tide has picked up 90 All-South Region honors with 52 of them eventually leading to
All-America accolades.
Osorio is the current Southeastern Conference leader and ranks sixth nationally with 305 strikeouts
over 179.1 innings pitched, an average of 1.7 per inning. She holds a
21-7 record with a 1.29 ERA, pitching 17 complete games that includes eight
shutouts. In 14 games this season Osorio has pitched double-digit strikeouts, including an Alabama-record 19 in a seven-inning perfect game
against Coastal Carolina, In SEC action, she was 9-5
with a 1.56 ERA and 132 strikeouts across 90.0 total innings pitched. Her .123
opposing batting average and .146 clip in Southeastern Conference play both ranked
second in the league.
Turner suffered a facial injury in the Missouri contest, forcing her to miss the majority of the SEC season, only recently
returning in a pinch-running role for the final weekend of Southeastern Conference play and at the SEC Tournament. Despite missing over a month of the
season, Turner still leads the team with a .387 batting average over her
37 starts, garnering 43 hits in 111 at-bats. Turner leads the Tide in multi-hit games with 11 of her 37 starts.

NASHVILLE, Tennessee – The only time the baseball game was even close between the Alabama Crimson Tide and Vanderbilt Commodores last night was just before the first pitch was thrown. Of course, the Southeastern Conference Baseball Tournament was already gone before the game, and as it turns out, this game was gone before the game. UA baseball suffered a huge loss on Thursday night, 18-1, to Vandy at Hawkins Field in Nashville, Tennessee. With the loss in the series opener, Bama is now 19-33 overall on the season and 5-23 in the Southeastern Conference.
Vanderbilt starter Patrick Raby (9-3) was on indeed, working 7.0 scoreless innings, allowing just two hits while issuing five walks and striking out seven Bama batters for the win. Alabama's Deacon Medders (2-1) worked 3.0 innings in his first career SEC start and took the loss for the Tide.
Chandler Avant was responsible for Alabama's only run of the game, going one-for-four with the run and one RBI. Cody Henry was one-for-two and John Trousdale was one-for-one on the evening.
The Crimson Tide and Commodores meet for game two of the series tonight. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m. CT at Hawkins Field. Jake Walters will start for Alabama while Vandy counters with Kyle Wright.
